Zone IV: The Garden State
Zone IV is comprised of 11 New Jersey state clubs with a total of 875 club members.
The state of New Jersey comprises the entire Zone IV region of The Garden Club of America.
Two of the eleven clubs, the Short Hills Garden Club and The Garden Club of Princeton were among the twelve clubs that met in Philadelphia in June, 1913, to form The Garden Club of America. They were joined later that year by the Garden Club of Trenton. Then followed the Garden Club of Somerset Hills in 1915, the Rumson Garden Club in 1916, the Garden Club of Morristown in 1917, the Summit Garden Club in 1920, the Garden Club of Englewood in 1926, the Plainfield Garden Club in 1944, the Stony Brook Garden Club in 1945 and the Garden Club of Madison in 1997.
The short distance between Zone IV clubs allows club members the opportunity to exchange ideas and establish strong ties through friendships and mutual interests. Conservation and preservation of the environment and New Jersey’s natural resources have always been the concern and focus of Zone IV. Each club has been diligent in their efforts to preserve the State’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
