Statement of Intent: Prior to reaching Grand Teton National Park we drove along the Gros Ventre River, which is the largest watercourse on the National Elk Refuge. The river serves as a boundary between the National Elk Refuge and Grand Teton National Park. It rises in the Gros Ventre wilderness in western Wyoming and joins the Snake River in the Jackson Hole valley. It is noted for excellent trout fishing.
This image is almost abstract in the simplicity of its line and color; however, the bold colors and the strong current create a sense of restlessness rather than stillness.

Statement of Intent: The stillness of a quiet mountain lake creates a stunning, peaceful scene.
This landscape illustrates effective use of layering with distinctive foreground, middle ground and background.
The horizontal tree line extending across the horizon stops the viewer’s eye.

Statement of Intent: I arrived at the edge of the pond before dawn hoping to capture the morning ground fog rising above the water. The water was still. The reeds barely moved. In the distance the fog began to rise, but by then my attention turned to the colors of the sky and the clouds reflected in the water.
The soft early morning light in this beautifully composed image evokes a sense of stillness and serenity.
